only that a Fever Hospital did not exist, but I was called upon (to fill the post of Assistant Superintendent of the Civil
Hospital. In consequence of this misrepresentation, 1 sub-
mit that my position in no way corresponds with that which
1 undertook to fill in closing negotiations with the Crown
Agents acting on behalf of the Government of this Colony,
and under these circumstances out of common fairness to
myself I must ask His Excellency the Governor to consider
my case.
It appears to me that either a suitable in-
crease should be made to my salary to compensate me in
some measure for the loss of position, or that I be grant-
ed a free first class passage home forthwith, together
with such a sum as will defray the extraordinary expenses
incurred by me on account of the aforementioned misrepre-
sentation.
